caprices: (Default)
I have never had this happen before, but a bit of ginger root burst out of the spice cabinet the other day going "I wanna LIVE!" As in, roots and leaves obviously nascent. So I did what any well-meaning plant-addict does and planted it in a pot that already hosts a geriatric sprig of parsley and a somewhat abused tomato plant. I half expected it to turn into a sullen lump of dead root matter and never be seen again, but it's got a determined-looking spear of green poking out of the dirt.

The other abused tomato plant (it still has a tomato...the world's slowest ripening-tomato) is sharing its pot with two garlics and a scented geranium of some sort. I forget what type, but it smells like pine or cedar or something pleasant like that. Actually it reminds me of the herb soaps sold at every ren faire and craft market in the world. The NICE herb soaps, that is. Having been to a lot of ren faires and craft markets, I should know better than to equate herb = pleasant.
